Spoke to Thomas, sounds like if the lamp begins to fail it can output an error code after it receives it's "SATSLF" message. Should write a piece of logic to see if there are characters other than numbers after byte 6. If so, exit.
Other logic needs to look at SunaSpec Average (SSA). If SSA is less than 1000, then it's only producing Dark Counts and isn't useful. Thomas said that sometimes if we can get 10 out of 30 good samples then we can have a good measurement.
Not pushing for these enhancements right now. when lamp fails in continuous mode, it still outputs numbers. Without knowing what it looks like when it fails, it's hard to create logic to exit.
