Bug in Power[] function #28

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I call the function "Sqrt[x^2]"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected output is Abs[x]. But the result I saw is x. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I changed the Power[] function:

Sqrt[x^2] now gives x^2^(1/2)

and
PowerExpand[Sqrt[x^2]] gives x
