Examples take a very long time to run #185

This slows down development and creates issues with failing builds on Travis. We should replace inputs to our examples with shorter inputs, in the style of mini_accelerometer_data et al from the tests.

Use smaller example inputs (already addressed by #184 ?)
Only use two example functions: one with just the data passed, and one with many additional parameters set.
