Does replace also require? #48

Many higher level advanced moves either have a lower level move as a "requirement," or they state that they "replace" a lower level move.

I feel that it is unclear that if higher level move B replaces lower level move A, is that character required to have A before taking B?

I thought we had a paragraph somewhere in the text about Requires and Replaces, but we don't!

You can only take a Replaces move if you have the move it Replaces.

You very well may have, and I could have totally missed it. I need to read the 2.2 tonight anyway, so I'll search for it.

Sagelt commented 12 years ago

I checked the two places I thought it might be and it wasn't in either. I'm pretty sure we don't actually explain Replaces and Requires anywhere.

ghost commented 12 years ago

Requires is pretty self explanatory. Maybe a short one paragraph explanation of Replace and Require in either the section where you explain Advanced Moves or Leveling up.

ajaxnz commented 12 years ago

Maybe wording it as 'ability x upgrades ability y' would make it clear enough that the other one is required, without getting too verbose.

Sagelt commented 12 years ago

No matter what the one-word tag is, we need to have a short explanation somewhere.

"Upgrades" is a pretty good choice, but Sage is right, we'll add some text explaining it, too.
