Windows 98 No Display, Can't Fix #3

I installed soft15khz on a Windows 98/Windows XP dual-boot machine that, as far as I understand it, should have been compatible... the video card used is an ATI x700. I connected the PC to a television using a VGA to SCART cable that combined the HSYNC and VSYNC signals into a composite sync signal, but I get no image. Analyzing the output on an oscilloscope, it seems as though the card isn't outputting the expected signal, so I expect I've either installed something incorrectly or the card isn't compatible.

Unfortunately, I now no longer have any means to see the display on this system. Booting in safe mode on the Windows XP installation when a soft15khz install was incorrect worked for me to disable the altered display drivers and give me a usable signal, but no instances of safe mode or VGA mode have been able to give me a usable signal from the Windows 98 install.

How could I manually remove the Windows 98 soft15khz installation under these circumstances?

Hm... If you have multiple outputs on that card, you might want to try another one (DVI Port?), or replace the graphics card entirely with another one.

You can either run the "backup" registry file, to restore the settings, or install any remote desktop software (vnc as example) if the machine is networked and then "uninstall" via remote.

Thanks for the quick response!

Installing another card is a great idea and should probably work! I'll have to find my other card that would be compatible and report back here on the results once /i try it.

I tried using the second DVI port on my card, and no luck there.

I'm worried though that I might not be using the software correctly, I was looking and couldn't find any sort of explanation of how to use it or tutorial or anything (not in English, anyway!) and was wondering if you might be able to either point me in the direction of a tutorial of some kind, or help walk me through using the software?

So I was unable to find my other card, but I was able to restore my regular graphics card drivers. For whatever reason, Windows 98 wasn't actually booting in safe mode when I selected, but I was able to get it to do so. I had to completely remove and reinstall the drivers for my graphics card to get things working again.

Anyway, I now have another, more direct question: when soft15khz is installed, is the signal that is being output composite sync, or separated HSYNC and VSYNC?

I saw another post you made (I forget which forum) that, unless I misunderstood, implied that soft15khz is designed to output composite sync? If that's the case, then that would explain why it's not working for me, as the cable I made combines HSYNC and VSYNC. I know that my cable works, because I've used it in my Windows XP install and CRT emudriver and it works perfectly.
