Description:
I purchased a name change on the website, renamed my character. The name is available. But when I want to log into the world, it says "The name of your character needs to be changed". Funnily enough, in the group the character was in and also in the friend list, the name is already changed to the new name.
Noteworthy is probably that I also did an appearance change in the same step. I changed the character from Male Night Elf named "Fildondruid" to Female Night Elf named Ilandra.
How to reproduce:
Class is Druid, Race is Night Elf, Gender used to be Male but got changed to female in the same step as the name change. Lvl 80, standing in Dalaran. Used to be in a 5-man party when the bug occured. Steps that lead to this bug: Logged into the character named "Fildondruid", purchased a name & appearanche change on the whitemane website, got disconnected by it and had to reconnect to see the character change button. Did the appearance and name change in one step and then tried to log back in. Bug occures, I can't log in with this character now without changing the name again.
How it should work:
Since the name is not occupied anymore and since the name was given to another character before, there shouldn't be any issue and I should be able to log in normally.
