Sampsca / BGEE-Classic-Movies

This is a WeiDU mod that restores the 'classic' movies from the original Baldur's Gate and select movies from Baldur's Gate II to BGEE/SoD/EET. There is a new component that restores the vanilla BG1 chapter and dream screens to BGEE/SoD/EET (using the appropriate theme).

Gorion's Ward death screen is not replaced. #11

What title says. I installed the mod correctly by extracting every file into the game installation folder, installed all components except the one that unlocks the movies without unlocking them and the death movie remains unchanged with that lazy power point presentation from Beamdog.

Based on the screenshot you originally added but apparently have since removed, I suspect the issue is caused by an incompatibility with a UI theme/mod that I haven't explicitly supported (some version of the oBG1 stone UI?). The install order of the mods may play a role, so if you can provide your WeiDU.log I'll see if I can track down the root cause. A link to the UI mod would also be helpful.

The screenshot was the wrong one i uploaded accidentally, so i removed it. But yeah, it's the UI mod that brings back the one from oBG1.

I installed this after the oBG1 UI mod. WeiDU.log

WHICH UI mod is it exactly? Where can I find it? It isn't in your WeiDU.log so I don't even know the name of the tp2 file to search for.

This one here

Also, it also didn't replace the Friendly Amn Inn movie. So i think there are more that weren't replaced. Maybe all of them, i really don't know. I would have to install the component that unlocks everything see which movies were specifically replaced or not.

Looking thru the repo for that UI mod, I'm not seeing anything that would make it incompatible with the movies in this mod. The UI doesn't overwrite any of the wbm movies, and most (if not all) movies are either played by the engine or via in-game scripts, neither of which are altered by the UI mod. I'd recommend double checking things on your end, and ensuring if you're playing SoD that you installed the DLC Merger mod before any other mod (not applicable if bought directly from Beamdog). I could theoretically support this stone theme in the chapter backgrounds, except since it isn't a WeiDU mod there's not a good way to detect it.

Damsen117 commented 9 months ago

I'm not playing SoD. Only BG1. I'm using the steam version of the game v2.6.6.0. Hell, i even tried your mod without the UI one and the problem persists. So i got no idea what is causing it if it's not the oBG1 UI mod.

So yeah, i don't know what else i could do.

Wanted to comment that I'm having the same issue. Fresh install, fresh save, no other mods installed. I can inspect the movies folder and see that the correct movies exist, but some of them aren't encountered organically ingame, nor are they viewable through the Movies section of the options menu. However, some do work. Notably, this is a fresh save, so the intro sequence was replaced without issue, but I've noticed the rest screens and Friendly Arm Inn screens are not properly playing the old versions. They do play the new versions in their stead.

Edit after some fiddling:

I managed to get the movies to play ingame by taking the contents of Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition/movies and pasting them into Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition/lang/en_US/movies. I'm not sure if the script is meant to do this or maybe Beamdog changed something in an update. The only thing that still doesn't seem to work are the intro screens, but I always skip over those anyway so it doesn't particularly bother me.

  1. Which game: BGEE, BGEE+SoD, or EET?
  2. Which platform: Beamdog, Steam, GoG?
  3. Which OS?
  4. Which language did you install the mod with, and which language are you trying to play the game in?
  5. What other mods are installed?

When modding BGEE+SoD on Steam, DLC Merger must be the first mod you install. Start with a clean game, install DLC Merger, then install BGEE Classic Movies. If after that you still have issues, let me know and we can continue diagnosing the issue.

That worked, thanks! I wasn't aware of the DLC Merger. And thank you for making this great mod.
