"-x c++" compiler flag needed? #105

I wonder why the Makefile adds "-x c++" to CXXFLAGS, when that seems
to be the default anyways when compiling with CXX == g++ . This flag,
while otherwise doing no harm, prevents ccache[0] from working (which
is arguably a bug in ccache, but it wouldn't hurt dropping it from
CXXFLAGS, or would it?).
