Needed for the SasView build issues, can we force this through quickly please @pkienzle @wpotrzebowski @butlerpd

Debugging this hanging bit would be GREAT!! the changes look innocuous enough to my untrained/non-expert eyes, except perhaps for the deletion of line 114, but I don't know enough to feel comfortable merging without someone else agreeing?
