beginfill() fills eps image with gradient

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. do a begin fill
2. add an eps image
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
the eps image is filled with the color specified in beginfill, even if a
endfill is set before.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Illustrator 8 Files getting the color of the last fill (Strokes are not 
affected)
Illustrator 3 Files are not affected but round corners are ignored

I also tried to set the fillcolor to null but no change

p.s. its under windows xp
