Mail notifier #453

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Version 0.11 under Crunchbang.

I would like to see a "mail" icon along with connection status, sound,
clipboard and battery icons, that either appears or changes aspect when I
receive new mail.

It seems tint2 doesn't include such an option nor allows other programs (e.g.
XFCE) to display a mail notifier.

I use Icedove 31.3.0 as a mail browser. Icedove notifies new mails but not in
real time and just for a few seconds, not permanently.

It is better to use a separate application for checking the e-mail and display
an icon in the tray. Maybe you can find a way to do it from Icedove/Thunderbird?

Otherwise you could try this tiny Python script:

https://pmn.googlecode.com/git/pmn.py

It works only with IMAP. It is not tested thoroughly, but it works for me.
