To be honest I can’t really think of a good way to implement this but I’m sure a way could be found but some close air protection would be really useful.
helicopters can be somewhat reliably taken out using the target enemy vehicle option if it’s the only vehicle in the area though sometimes they move too fast and get out of the area before the support can target them so a larger search area and/ or a longer distance for firing range combined with a helicopter option for targeting would help with this.
but I think a jet would be moving to fast to reliably target that way unless the search area can be made big enough that it would basically have to cover any map
part of me thinks it might be better as a setting for what is currently a transport plane or perhaps cas loiter so it could remain in the area loitering then engaging targets once the aircraft on CAP detects the enemy.
having it on a constant loiter for a set amount of time would alleviate scrambling to call in the support while being attacked by enemy air.
I’m sure you’ll be able to figure something out though.
