Bugs introduced by merge v1.4.28 -> v1.4.30/v1.4.31

[x] Crash on re-opening the app from recents (java.lang.IllegalStateException: You should authenticate before using this)

[x] Sometimes sync getting stuck? (no more recent messages showing, space notification counts not disappearing)
