Timeline doesn't load before sending a message (Dendrite?)

Describe the bug

When I open a room, I either see no messages or one random message until I send a message to the room after which all messages appear.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Open SchildiChat
2. Open a room
3. See no messages
4. Send a message
5. Room timeline loads as expected

Room timeline loads normally

• Store: Google Play
• Homeserver: dendrite.matrix.org

• Does this issue exist in Element Android? Cannot test

As I am using Dendrite instead of mostly used Synapse, I think the issue may also be at Dendrite. It's currently not functioning with FluffyChat either and there the issue is thought of possibly being related to a spec violation https://github.com/matrix-org/dendrite/issues/2882
