Describe the solution you'd like In some countries or regions where people cannot access the app and its updates from, for example, Google Play for various reasons, perhaps adding an optional automatic version detection is a good alternative.

Describe alternatives you've considered Add detection of the latest version of GitHub releases, let users decide for themselves whether to download (this can be made an optional feature).

I tend to not like this idea, it seems to be unnecessary complexity and privacy concern to me. Alternatives to Google Play exist for checking for updates:
