Hi Darren,
As far as I remember, VIX took PV out of its plugins feeds since there were a
lot of users posting crash loops when PV was installed. This actually was a
good thing because now you may install PV builds manually, to your liking.
I had PV running (not so) smoothly on my Duo on OpenVix 3.0 latest build.
Now, PV runs very smoothly on my Quad on OpenMips - which has PV in its feeds.
On my Quad PV was ok even in OpenVix 3.0.
I would strongly suggest you flash your box with the latest VIX build and then
manually install the latest PV build.
BUT DO NOT FORGET;
1. when you run PV first setup - you have to disable the first two options; do
not run PV on Enigma start and do not update automatically.
2. You also need to to copy a missing PV .lib file manually (via FileZilla or
any FTP program), after you install PV. The file goes to this folder
/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/ProjectValerie
The above two things are VERY IMPORTANT - in order not to have green/black
screens of death - or even worse the crash loops.
Trust me, I've been there. ;)
cheers
Erion

Hi Erion,
Thanks a lot for the reply.
I went around it another way, took the hit and flashed Black Hole Image to my
VU.
My actual VIX image seemed to have got corrupted on a backup somehow, and had
to do a null-modem cable flash (long story) as USB wasn't recognised by the old
VIX image 8)
Anyway, i have PV working now really smoothly, it seems rock solid on the BH
image, and i the BH and VIX images are similar, but BH seems more stable and
mature to me. (Not just on PV)
Anyway, thanks for the response mate!

Yes i have had crash loops before, so you can just del/rename the directory
that causes crash :)

Glad to hear you sorted it out!
On a side note; Coming from 2 years of VIXing, I found BH a little bit 'rough
on the edges'. IMO VIX 3.0 is far more user friendly than VIX 2.4.
Now that I am on OpenMips 2.0 (on my GB Quad) I do really miss some of the nice
layouts of VIX, especially vix epg and its nightHD skin.
But, on the positive side, OpenMips, combined with GlassHD 16 skin, CoolTV
guide and PV, it really does (out)match the latest VIX build.
In the end of the day, it comes down to personal preferences. :)
cheers

Well i'll take your word on it mate, i have only had BH for less than a week :)
I might flash VIX v3. But i really like PV, and I want that to run smoothly.
I have CoolTV guide and that works well... i have seen that VIX guys *may* have
taken the (partial) code of Cool TV Guide from the dev...

ouch, that looks pretty bad... :S
I knew that VIX took some 'partial' code from coolman for the now-called VIX
epg - which basically seems the coolman epg tweaked for the VIX interface, but
did not know that the thing went to the wrong direction.
Hm, this explains why everyone in VIX team (be it testers or its forum admins)
are pretty jumpy when cool epg is mentioned... Same goes when I tackle the
non-compatibility of PV with VIX - I do have a few threads on these two very
nice plugins, which VIX basically seems to let them down...
you can read urself what I'm talking about (it's one of my threads in WoS VIX
forum);
