Black screen after apple logo #133

Hello, I am getting a black screen right after the apple logo, and then nothing. I have exactly the same config as you, bios is exactly as the guide shows, the hack was working perfectly on 10.15 and imac pro 1,1 smbios.

At some point it went in sleep, screen flashed white a few times, I couldn't do anything with it so I did a hard reboot and from there after apple logo nothing shows up. I tried the other GPU (I have 2x 5700xt on this rig) and same result, I tried changing the conf to iMac20,2 with iGPU, same result. I enabled verbose and keepsyms and debug flags, nothing specific shows up, it just scrolls really really fast and just goes black.

Did someone have a similar issue at some point ? I did not update anything on the rig prior to this happening, I'm at a complete loss.

Im getting a black screen right after the apple logo too, sometimes ... (config_iMac20,2_iGPU_with display_output.plist)

Check all your video outputs...Sometimes, e.g. when you have iGPU enabled and a dGPU, it picks the iGPU as the primary display.

And the actual screen is just on another video out.

@SchmockLord I changed output and now green screen appears instead of black screen. I used exactly the same hardware as this project and installed ‌Big Sur 11.12.1. Is there a green screen for you?

I'm using iGPU and had the same problem, I resolved by removing the argument agdpmod=pikera. Hope this helps.

This actually is the only thing that worked ... Good to know for those people that DON'T need dGPU... BUT the problem is that on Z490 the on-board HDMI is limited to 4K at 30Hz. Which is really bad for someone who owns a single or lot of 4K screens... They don't "scale" well even when used at lower resolutions. Has anyone tried to use the HDMI of Z490 or Z590 Boards with the i9 11900k ?? On windows I mean because the iGPU of 11900K is not yet supported on macOS. I have the impression that from 11th gen onwards the on-board Graphics support 4K @60Hz.

Thank you very much @SchmockLord . That's right, in my case, after the log stopped, the monitor turned off (it turned off, I thought it was a black screen). To solve it I just pressed the "power" button and there was the installation/disk utility menu...
