Ethernet I225-V not working in High Sierra #43

Hi. I succesfully install High Sierra in a Vision G (I got some conf from here), using a i5-10400, GTX 1050ti. Overall performance is being great: No crashes, GB5 ok. I had, however, some things to fix even when I use conf suggested a) Ethernet not working, b) Intel HD 630 hardware acceleration not working. I got a thing about this since both problems may be related.

TLDR: I can't see in network system preferences the ethernet option as shown in the image.

What I've tried:

Check PCI path: It seems correct since the MB is the same, anyhow I use Hackintool to be sure

This is my IORegistry. It seems like I had no appleintel210 just FAKEPCIID. It makes me think driver is not being loaded.(?)

But I can't make it work. Any ideas... thanks for your help.

I think the main issue is, that you're running brand new hardware and expecting that everything runs on High Sierra. I suggest you to upgrade to the latest Catalina 10.15.6.

But overall you're expecting much from us:

Fair points but since I own a Nvidia GPU Card and still no plans to upgrade I may stick with High Sierra for now.

Main problem is that HS drivers for network lacks support for i255LM which was added in Catalina 10.5.4. That's the reason FAKEPCIID can't load a driver. So unless I find a way to use Catalina drivers or modified the one's in HS with the appropriate entries there's no option. Or wait for a driver? But no one is having problems with this anymore in Catalina so I don't think its gonna happen.

As for the other points: Intel 10th Gen working great, theres no power management problem. Temps are okay. And iGPU acceleration is working (AFAK).

For those who needs to run High Sierra (even Mojave): It runs great, there's no real performance drawbacks but if you plan to use ethernet as your main connection source think twice.

You should close this I guess. Thanks.

Hi @vectorseven, I'm interested to know how do you boot into High Sierra. Would you mind sharing your EFI files or patches for Intel 10 gen CPUs? Thanks.

Don't really know if it would help. Tbh I've haven't solved my problem with Ethernet. I'm just using a wireless connection by now.

If you don't manage to get your ethernet working you gonna have to use fake ethernet kext in order to get iservices (iMessage, FaceTime, etc) work.

Here you can clone or see my EFI folder without fake ethernet kext (not FAKEpCIID, this is different and work only on Catalina, but it's not required for a initial run)

Awesome. I don't have an intel ethernet. I'm testing another Msi and Asrock Z490 boards with Realtek ethernet.

Edit: @vectorseven I just confirmed that I can boot into High Sierra with most of your settings in EFI and Realtek ethernet works. My curiosity is what parameters do you use to boot into High Sierra with 10 gen CPU?

TBH I'm not an expert in hackintoshes (I've done one or two previously mainly using Clover so it's not relatable, and It was my first using OC) so I've used different sources mainly to get ACPI and Power Management files, then I follow Dortania OC guide to get my plist config ready.

  1. Here (this own github) and here.
  2. Dortania OC guides: I think it's where I learnt the most. Practically speaking, you understand most of the main concepts when building hackintoshes. With some time you can learn to build ACPI files and most patches for USB ports.

EDIT: I think this thread in tonymac has the perfect approach to understand USB port patches: Here

  1. BUT main change I need to DO was using EMULATE setting in config.plist. Without this YOU can't boot since there is no (won't be I guess) official support in HS for Intel 10th.
