Given we now have reasonably priced high pixel density 3d glasses (Nreal Air) and they can present themselves as a single full HD monitor of double width (3840x1080) we can have a usable true 3d desktop

Have a toggle that would make gnome render the desktop at half width, display them side by side for regular flat image. In cube mode render a picture for each eye separately with a slightly offset camera, and display side-by-side.
