Illogical Ordering of Undergrad Programs #18

Open phcompeau opened 7 years ago

phcompeau commented 7 years ago

At http://cs-dev.cmu.edu/programs, the ordering shown for undergrad programs is somewhat nonintuitive. For one, there are two primary undergrad programs for SCS students (CS and CB), but that information is not present because of the way data are organized.

Second, listing programs by major vs. minor might be more intuitive.

Bumping this. It's also not intuitive within department. Hierarchically, I would expect the primary major and degrees managed internal to CSD to be listed first.

So for CSD I would expect the order (with or without additional guidance info on the page) to be: Managed in SCS/CSD - Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Additional Major in CS, Minor in CS

Managed in other colleges - Bachelor of CS & Arts (BXA), Bachelor of Science in Music & Tech (CFA), Minor in Neural Computation (CNBC)

I agree with this. If that is the setup, then the comp bio major should be listed alongside the CS major, since it is as of this year the second primary major offering in SCS and no longer an interdisciplinary add-on major.

Right, agree with that at the SCS level - realized my SCS/CSD could be misleading. The order in my previous comment was for within CSD.
