Events not being auto-populated #64

Closed awmcmu closed 6 years ago

awmcmu commented 7 years ago

It looks like the events page http://cs-dev.cmu.edu/events is not being refreshed automatically (all events are pre-June). So I want to make sure there's an issue for us to discuss: What is the process for getting events onto this page? Is it a feed, an extraction from other sources of truth, or manually updated (if the latter, we need to get a manual process in place)

ryanbungard commented 7 years ago

The information currently there is manually updated in prismic.io, along with news items. I'm bringing this to the attention of @shaneckel to see if we have existing documentation to work off of.

shaneckel commented 7 years ago

@awmcmu I've been hand entering the Events for design adjustments. We'll have to have someone enter the events into prismic.

shaneckel commented 7 years ago

@awmcmu @ryanbungard For documentation: https://user-guides.prismic.io/browse-documents-and-edit-content#editing-content For access to prismic, just have whomever is responsible for editing this information email me and I'll send them an invite.

Please can you add me (awm) as someone who can add events, and point me to the documentation on how to do so. Once I've added a few I'll have a better idea of how we can batch up that work.

Yes I do Ryan. You are right. The functional owner of Events --- is Catherine Copetas

@awmcmu Invite sent. Documentation is here: https://user-guides.prismic.io/browse-documents-and-edit-content#editing-content

Thanks! I think I successfully added a news article. It was wonderfully straightforward!

I'm not sure why this is closed. Instructions were provided for uploading information but the events still sit at June 2017 for the last event visible? Is that a different issue that needs a separate entry now?

Also, based on the list above by Viji, Garth won't be here and perhaps Guy Blelloch (UG) and Bob Frederking (PhD) should be included in the education/academics as stakeholders?

ryanbungard commented 6 years ago

The original question, to which was answered, was:

What is the process for getting events onto this page? Is it a feed, an extraction from other sources of truth, or manually updated (if the latter, we need to get a manual process in place)

Given the scope of the issue, I've removed the previous stakeholder comments to avoid further confusion.
