In CSD those are both coded in HR as a form of special faculty.
CSD, RI, HCII, ML, separate Post Doctoral Fellows out in our respective directories. LTI & ISRI don't appear to separate Post Docs out the way the rest of us do.
CSD currently has instructors in the special faculty (contingent) category based on HR appointment, which is a business office/dept decision for position code.
I should note, RI to my knowledge, does code Post Docs as staff, however.
Yep. I think you probably need to go off of the four digit workday job code as to whether they should come up in the faculty listing or not. I can give you the mapping from jobcode to whether it should be included in the faculty list or not;
see columns A and C of "jobcodes" on this:

You're right... jobcode is the finest grain we can go down to. That would be most helpful @awmcmu :) We should be able to apply "staff" and "student" to the rest.
I don't have access, but if this sheet is related to this one... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yBi2VJOKfdKm2BBml3F5wp_UGlaTg1IoiPEVDdp1ht0/edit#gid=0 ...may we also have the following codes filled for this private task? https://github.com/SchoolofComputerScience/data-tasks/issues/30 We had people with new codes appear in our daily export from Workday.
The directory has been changed to reflect mappings between category and jobcode.
This has put 28 people in CSD into the staff category that shouldn't be in the staff category. They are considered faculty (there may be a 29th, I have to confirm).
Looking at a couple other departments, emeritus faculty in particular are getting tagged staff. I don't think we want Scott Fahlman not listed as faculty, for example.
Nope, they are out because they are either not primary SCS or emeritus etc.

Just note that this narrow set of buckets will then put a Turing award winning professor in the staff category, along with a small subset of other luminaries who no longer have an active appointment in SCS.
When I was looking at HCII I noticed a lot of extraneous folks.
Instructor and Postdoc should not be listed as faculty...they can be under staff.
