F10 breakpoint "Next" utility in debug preview not working #8133

Closed MethuselahConstruct closed 1 month ago

MethuselahConstruct commented 1 month ago

Problem description

In the breakpoint documentation at https://www.construct.net/en/make-games/manuals/construct-3/project-primitives/events/breakpoints , it states that "Pressing Next will step to the next event, condition or action in sequence in the event sheet. Alternatively, press F10 with the browser window focused." However, pressing F10 during a breakpoint pause in the debug preview does not step through the events. Only mouse-clicking the Next/Step button does so.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the enclosed project, but any project will do.
  2. If it does not already have a breakpoint, put a breakpoint on Event 2.
  3. Use ctrl+F5 or open the debug preview by clicking the appropriate button.
  4. The preview window will open, and then immediately pause.
  5. Press the F10 key while either the preview window or the editor window is focused.

Observed result

The for loop enclosed does not step through; indeed, the events stay put when I press the F10 key.

Expected result

I expected the for loop to step through, as if I had mouse-clicked on the Step/Next button.

More details

I'd really like to test how my mouse position affects other projects, and so would love to be able to Step/Next or even Resume with a shortcut.

This affects a Windows 10 computer, running out of editor.construct.net on Google Chrome version 126.0.6478.127 AND Firefox version 128.0 (64-bit) AND Opera version 111.0.5168.61. I'm running Construct 3 r397 on all of them, and I didn't see any mention of a fix for this in any of the beta releases.

Affected browsers/platforms: Chrome, Firefox, and Opera at least

Should be fixed in the next beta.
