Add testimonies for the index page #302

Writing this idea so I don't forget.

There should be testimonies of Scratch Addons to be shown on the index page. Ideally there shouldn't be people that have no affiliation to SA (e.g. griffpatch).

Probably, messages that are sent as a review on each distribution sites (AMO, CWS) would have the best chances of good writeups. Feedback messages would be too private. Any other source would be appreciated.

PS. Have we got media coverage? We can add those, if there is.

Nothing serious that I can remember.

I'm not sure if showing testimonies is a good fit for our website. I've only ever seen testimonies in websites very different to ours, such as paid services and "wanna-be startups".

Hmm, you may be right on that one.

But, https://code.visualstudio.com/ has one on the second section.

VS Code has quite a lot of telemetry and Microsoft is incentivized to spread it around to integrate it into its other products, which aren't free. Also, the tweets are from mid-2019 back when VS Code was less popular. Nowadays it's the most widely used editor.

Somewhat related: in our YouTube channel, https://youtube.com/@ScratchAddons, I added a "Scratch Addons around the world" video row that showcases videos about SA in different languages. Maybe we could consider adding a similar concept to our index.

We could also ask for testimonies ourselves, I guess. I don't think there are any good already published testimonies, but we could try to get our own from a diverse set of users, and add a carrousel.

For example, we could ask or search testimonies by these types of users/topics:

I had a better idea as either a new section or replacing the Features section. This would add more content on the landing page, which is one of my wishes due to how barren it is.

I found https://www.cypress.io/ as another inspiration. The last section includes Twitter links and numbers. I think we should move the user counts up there, and maybe add more numbers. That would be after the tables.

Nice find.
