Login is broken on staging #984

There seems to be several problems:

Error messages are not visible
reset password functionality does not seem to display the correct confirmation message ..

The front page (index.html) was last changed 21 days ago by Ioana so this has probably been broken ever since.

@osj2507 Did you notice any changes related to this in your current work with #728?

Most of the HTML was changed to work with the bootstrap responsive grid and navbar, but I haven't specifically seen that there was meddle with the loginbar.

@osj2507 Do you have time to look into this before you go on vacation? If so, you can just include it in your pull request for #728.
