QWB variant abbreviations #348

Open oritRosengarten opened 2 years ago

oritRosengarten commented 2 years ago

It is import that the user can see the full resource for a QWB variant, for example if it shows Qimron 2014 I would like to know (in a popup window or when hoovering) the full bibliography

Bronson and Ingo- we spoke about this on the email, can you send Itay the csv file? Itay- can you implement it?

Sorry for not answering until now. At the moment, I’m fully occupied with QWB and the preparation for the holidays. But next week („between the years“, as we call this time in Germany) when the holidays are over there will be time to prepare the list (it’s the traditional time you clean your desk from pending works ;-)

All the best

Please find attached the csv-file. But it’s still not quite clear to me for what purpose it is needed. As far as i see, the variants do not yet show up in SQE and of course if they are taken directly from QWB also the bibliographic data should be taken directly from QWB. This is important especially since a lot of our abbreviations are internal and not meant to be used in a publication (in fact, for those parts we assign if needed more conventional abbreviation eg. „Baumgarten 1999“ instead of „Baumgarten f“ which was given automatically by the system. But this means, that those abbreviations might change and the (static) list will become more and more outdated (if you use QWB you can simply get all bibliographic data by clicking on an abbreviation. Thus, please, before you integrate this list in SQE, specify the need and communicate it with us - we might find a better solution as I already hinted to in a mail to Joe (e.g. to provide you with an endpoint).

Happy new year

Hi Ingo,

Thanks for the answer! Happy holiday! I admit I am a bit confused, don't we have QWB variants (see screen shot)? or am I not understanding something? If we do show the QWB variants in the SQE then I guess it is the internal version, is that correct? If there is a more "formal" or adequate version we will be more then happy to integrate it instead of what appears now.

Dear Orit,

yes you are right, that’s the variants.Obviously those were implemented without knowing it by me (since our new project Qumran digital started and Bronson stopped working for SQE, I was no more involved in the further development and lost track of some new developments of it).

I’ll have a meeting with Bronson tomorrow (the first after several month, because he was so occupied in France), and IÄll ask him, whetther he knows exactly how the variant data are retrieved from QWB. Probably we can use the same channel just to add the full bibliography and skipping the abbreviations.

I’ll let you know what I’ll find out.

All the best

Ingo

I just spoke with Bronson, and he reminded me that I already had written such an endpoint for SQE in spring last year (obviously, I’m getting old and start to forget thinks I already have done ;-). The endpoint is in the SQE-Backend called qwb-proxy/bibliography. Brinson will show you and Itay to use it while your meeting on Wednesday (it’s simple - you just send the Id of the entry in the bibliography and get back the full information).
