Depending on screen size, they may open in the upper left corner.

This is an issue with ubuntu using Wayland rather than X11

Additionally, on Wayland, Window shadows and taskbar colors do not render.

fixed by using xcb plugin 03f04b60cf3aa4858718272e8b9d165397c8d804
