The player should be rewarded when collecting a piece with some coins, and an indicator of why you want to collect it should appear. For example, having the inventory open and the piece become "collected" there in the inventory so the player can see.
Alternatively, make use of #29 and have it be an item in the inventory (non-equip-able) that has a description relating it to the door puzzle in #15.
