Program won't start #542

I wanted to start grafx2 but It didn't work. I do not know why, i can open it 
but the file grafx2 does show up but not the screen itself. I am using the 
latest version and I use it on Windows 7 bit.

Please see in the directory of the program (same as grafx2.exe) if you find 
files like stdout.txt and/or stderr.txt, they may contain error messages. These 
files don't get created if your user account can't write in this location, 
though.
Then check in the directory "Application Data". You can locate it by typing in 
the explorer bar: %APPDATA%
Look in the directory called Grafx2
1) If you find a file called gfx2.lck, delete it : it's an empty file that 
Grafx2 uses to see if it's "already running".
2) If you see files ending in .bkp like a000000.bkp, remove them : it's the 
safety backups that Grafx2 makes while you're editing an image. Grafx2 tries to 
load them automatically on start, so if the file was corrupt it could explain 
the issue.
3) Last, move the gfx2.ini elsewehere. It will restore many settings back to 
defaults, but maybe Grafx2 will now start. If this one solves the issue, please 
send us this gfx2.ini, I'd like to know what happens to that I can fix Grafx2 
to be more robust in this case.
4) Last, try moving the gfx2.cfg elsewhere. It will restore more settings (most 
notably the keyboard shortcuts), but maybe Grafx2 will now start.

I fixed the problem, not on your way, I looked into my Grafx2 folder in my 
Application data, I saw it was empty so I deleted the Grafx2 file there 
uninstalled Grafx2 and installed it again and now it works!

I had the same issue, reinstalled multiple times each to no avail.
Then did as suggested above and deleted .lck file and moved the .ini file 
elswhere.
Its working fine now, so the fix was good! Not sure which one helped as I 
stupidly did both then tested it. Possibly the .lck because the program would 
open, not display a screen, but appear down in the taskbar and would not let me 
exit it without using task manager to force shut down.
