i have been stuck on this issue for 2 whole day and have given up as there are to many things that need changing for it to run.

Why would you want to run it on 5.0 while there is already 7.0 and 8.0 is around the corner? 😅

How can I update I have attempted to update to 6.0

Check out SDK 7.0.400 There is a version for several OSes available.
