Linux: Text disappearing after first package drop #67

This was on my first attempt to play the game. I disabled fullscreen, changed resolution and then started to play. I took up one package and dropped it about 300 km from destination. At that moment the Text from the Destinations disappeared and only the arrows indicating take-up or dropping remained. I first thought that it might be a feature but when I entered the menu all text was gone there too. The bug didn't happen again later.

I didn't make a screenshot, unfortunately.

Looks like others have seen the same bug as it is noted on the itch.io page in the comments by a different player.

Thanks for the report. It's unfortunately a bit difficult for me to fix without a linux device to test on. Would you (or anyone else reading this and experiencing the same issue) be willing to open and run the project in the Unity editor to see if there's an error message occurring when this happens?

I haven't ever used the Unity editor, so it will take some time until I can install it and play with it enough to give helpful feedback. I'm not sure when I'll find the time for it or whether this will happen at all.

I also don't know whether the bug only happens on the first run or may occur repeatedly. I'll update if I see the bug again.

No error messages from unity, but maybe this still helps:

Below are two screenshots.

After a package drop, the text disappears during flight, on the map, in the manual, settings, and credits, but not in the main/start screen. It is still missing after going to the main menu and back to playing. Restarting the game fixes the error until the next package drop. For me the bug happens consistently and apparently independent from package pickup and drop location and time.

Version: 1.0.7 from itch.io

OS/HW: Ubuntu 20.04 / Intel processor and graphics

Happens to me too. Consistently. Unless i run the game with -force-opengl.

Even when adding this option in the terminal I have got the same issue. Ubuntu 22.10, Intel graphics.

I have the same problem on Ubuntu 20.04, AMD Integrated graphics. I tried using -force-opengl and it didn't work. Has anyone found a fix for this?

For me the problem is fixed using: ./Geographical\ Adventures.x86_64 -force-opengl
