Thermostat - values disappear when device loses connection #490

My thermostat went offline and I noticed when this happens, certain state attributes disappear instead of being set to "unavailable". Is this normal behavior? I use cards / automations to detect when current_temperature and current_humidity change, and if the device loses connection, it breaks my cards because the state attribute is basically gone. Is it possible to have these things change to an "unavailable" or "not defined" state instead? There might be more depending on the device type, as mine is directly about the thermostat.
