I often find myself going between changing light conditions, where switching between dark and light themes helps greatly with visibility. A shorter access to the toggle for this (when it's not set to one of the two automatic modes) would make a surprisingly useful difference, even if it was only one level higher in the interface.
My first choice would be a shortcut button on the ribbon up top, but I think that would crowd small screens too much.
A toggle near the bottom of the main menu would be just as good. It's only one level higher in the interface tree, but would still be almost as good as being right on the main screen.
