Ads are just not muted #94

Hello, I've been using this project for some time, but actually it has never worked...

Any suggestions? I live in France, could there be some explanations due to the location I am using Spotify?

skannerdarkly commented 7 years ago

Same thing here in the US....

(using Spotify 0.9 on Ubuntu 16.04)

Can't say for sure, but I believe this has worked on its own. Toggling play/pause will engage the mute for some ads; other times it will only work halfway into an ad.

Blockify doesn't seem to have this issue, but I get a different, fun issue. Starting a new queue can cause it to mute, despite there being no ad. Toggling play/pause sometimes fixes this, or I need to manually unmute Spotify.

Edit: Duplicate of #67 & #46?

thx @OfekA

I've been using simple (mute-only) mode. Once in a while an ad won't mute, in which case I toggle play/pause (perhaps more than once) and it will mute. Once the next song starts playing, toggling play/pause should unmute the song.

RJVB commented 3 years ago

I think that list contains a number of sites that are probably not necessary (most if not all of the google sites) but either way, ads are still coming through for me :-/

RJVB commented 3 years ago

Well, that wasn't too hard to repair; the overly simple logic to determine the actual Spotify window no longer worked.

I've made a few other tweaks, including renaming everything to avoid the terms "killer" and killing. "Killing the sound" is an alternative to muting the sound but "killing ads" implies more than just muting their sound.
