Obtain secretchronicles.org domain... #12

This is a task to get the domain secretchronicles.org.

For previous suggestions on where we might buy it and the types of domain records needed, see: https://github.com/Secretchronicles/TSC/issues/194

@bugsbane - do you know if you can still buy this domain? If no one else buys it, I will probably start looking into buying it myself some time this coming fall.

Whoever buys this will eventually need to transfer the name to the Secret Chronicles organization (either as a formal group or to a trusted set of people). We have also discussed transferring other resources like the Alexandria server; it is always good to have multiple people available to fall back on.

@Bugsbane, can you still obtain this domain?

As discussed previously with @Quintus , obtaining secretchronicles.org domain would

Closing this as WONTFIX.

datahead8888 commented 8 years ago

I don't think this was completely decided with the whole team.

@datahead8888

I was referring to http://lists.secretchronicles.de/tsc-devel/2016/09/0000006.html that has this quote by @Quintus

TSC does currently not have a lot of money available (just look at last quarter's financial report). Until this changes, I am against purchasing the .org domain, unless someone volunteers to pay for it.

I'll reopen this to see is someone still interested in this.

datahead8888 commented 8 years ago

@Bugsbane had expressed interest in buying the domain a while back. I also might be interested, but I have to look into a couple possible issues with it, first.

Quintus commented 7 years ago

The problem is not that we don't want the domain. The problem is that somebody needs to pay for it. The TSC project as a whole does not have the financial capability to do so, so it's required somebody volunteers to pay for it.

@sydneyjd has obtained the domain, so I am closing this.
