@Quintus :
Payment suggestion: use https://www.braintreepayments.com
About SSL certs: we can use https://letsencrypt.org for free SSL cert, some use it already with working support on Firefox. I need to test how it works.
Some donations could be used to pay for .org domain name.
Are donations for TSC team decided targets, or could somebody sponsor specific feature in game, like for example integration with some license compatible software, multiplayer capability, or something else?

I found webpage about various open source funding / donation alternatives: https://changelog.com/how-to-fund-your-open-source-projects/
We will need to make sure this is findable from the front page of secretchronicles.de.

If they act as a net for several other services, this would be convenient, but it looks like they assess their own charge. We will have to make commonly used services available if we want people to donate; I never got around to donating to Wikipedia until they made it accessible through amazon.com.

@xet7, we had similar discussions when talking about funding the game on KickStarter a while back. @Bugsbane thought he could pull in resources through KickStarter: http://forum.secretchronicles.de/topics/64
I was curious if this was sort of the kind of thing Quintus had in mind with bounties in the .md document.
I'm currently going to be job hunting and lost some money on some side things recently, so my own ability to donate may be limited right now.
Also, what about starting a TSC store eventually? It could be a bit like the SMC store. We could sell TSC coffee cups, TSC T-shirts, and more. We might want to wait until we make some major decisions like the story and the new appearance for Alex, however.
We could even look into selling TSC action figures, using 3-D printing to create the figures.
Quintus said he is going to look into bank account options.
Hopefully we can start the title / credits themes music contest once this is done.

Can we merge this for now? We can always add more/other donation methods later on, but currently there is simply nothing on the website.
I think the page isn’t linked anywhere. Would be nice if it could be placed somewhere visibly so that people recognise it.

@Quintus About SSL certificates in the donations page:
We can use Let's Encrypt for free SSL certificates, just as I did at GitLab test pages. Those certificates are generated every max 3 months, I generate one certificate per subdomain, and that renewal can be automated. What do you think?
I'll look at website structure where to add link to donations page.
For testing, I added donations page link to menubar at English and Finnish pages, I have not committed any of those changes to git yet: http://webtest.secretchronicles.de
On my monitor this makes Language menu go to second row, but as layout changes anyway depending on screen resolution, it's ok for me. What do you think?

I am fine with that. But then we need to come up with another example why people should donate :-)

Same for me. I don’t think that’s too bad, though. Other opinions?

@Quintus Maybe donations for sponsoring those harddrives that are used for local backups of TSC files? Or test hardware for porting for another operating systems, devices etc?
@Quintus For example, I don't currently have Intel Mac for trying to compile TSC for it.
I have previously compiled TSC for:
I have not tried yet, but can try:

Just change the line about infrastructure costs to say, "We currently have free infrastructure, but it is good to have a little bit of savings in case unexpected costs arise". Then move it to the end of the list.
If that doesn't work, we should probably remove the line about infrastructure costs altogether. Fortunately, we have other reasons for donating, such as music contests.
Also, if we ever hold an official physical meeting, there will be travel expenses. A physical meeting if well planned would allow developers both to have in person meetings and do intensive coding sessions together, which would accelerate development.
I’ve changed the list a little. Is this acceptable now?

That is very good. I didn't think about the backup hardware -- that is something that might come up from time to time.
@Quintus I have now added donations page to menubar, and translated changes to list of reasons to Finnish. Cron script will make changes visible soon.
Here’s a page for donations. Please give your opinion about the text and payment modalities.
I don’t want do use my private bank account for the TSC project (bank data is sensitive data and I don’t want it on the public Internet!), so I am going to open a new bank account for this. This comes with a certain cost per month, which is the minimum amount of money that we need to make by means of donations; I will pay a certain sum onto that new bank account so it will be alive some months even if no donations are received, but this will not suffice eternally. I will check with my bank to see how much it does cost and then report here.
Do not merge this PR before I filled in the details.
