code is not displaying while recording a selenium tool #5183

I am using selenium ide 1.10 tool an trying to record the but i am not able to record
the code my FF version is 16.0. Please help to record the code.

I am trying to record the following test case:

"To open a notepad and write something in the notepad and close it." 

But in the Table tab the cod is not recording and nothing is able to view in the Command,
Target and Value columns. Please find the attachment.

Please suggest if any options has to change or any thing has to download

Recording some steps for Notepad is not going to work with Selenium, at all.

Selenium can only automate web applications.
