Nodes occasionally become unresponsive #303

Node drag and click seems to become unresponsive

Pressing the right Command key on MacOS makes the visualization unresponsive. Pressing the left Command key or the Control key makes the viz responsive again.

Keeping this issue open for now so that if we identify other causes of this problem (i.e., other than the command key), we can address them here.
