I have been using master for about two years on recent versions of MediaWiki 1.39 and Semantic MediaWiki 3.1 to 4.1 without noticeable issues. Well, there is https://github.com/SemanticMediaWiki/SemanticMetaTags/issues/76, but it is an operational issue for which a workaround is possible.
