DocViewer pager UX questions

Need UX/UI guideance/ideas/recommendations for the following:

• All changes in the field trigger the DocViewer jump to the page represented by the actual number in the pager. For example if I am reading page 284 and want to jump to 723, any changes of deleting from 284 and typing in 723 will result in jumping around the document (to pages 28, 2, 7, 72 and 723, finally). Is this OK, or should the system only jump when user presses Enter? What if user changes his/her mind, and would like to stay on the original page?
• When pager holds only one digit and user tries to manually deletes it, page range validation corrects the empty value to the digit the user has just deleted. For the user it might seem that this last digit cannot be deleted. It can be, however, selected and overwritten. Is this ok?

UX also recommends that says page range validation should run after user hits Enter. This would solve both issues in description.
