Would it be possible to allow one to configure the mod so that one can allow mobs to inflict infection and/or bleeding from their attacks?

I have some ideas in mind, such as really bad bleeding from the bulls in animania, and infection from the komodo dragons in the reptile mod.

Maybe this could extend to some other potion effects as well, such as some from vanilla (i.e poison, wither)

The amplifier and time of these effects should also be able to be configured based on what attacked you. For instance, being gored by a bull would screw you, whereas being bitten by a komodo dragon would cause you to slowly die of a horrid infection + slow-acting venom.

Side note, would it be possible to add a venom effect? As mentioned above, it could be configurable to what mobs can inflict such a bite, but by default, spiders do so. Venom could act as a mix between poison and wither, albeit on a slower scale. Perhaps it could be treated with antivenin, mithridate, or activated charcoal.

Hmmmm… come to think of it, it would be good do differentiate between poisonous and venomous in minecraft. There is also room to expand on various kinds of poisons/venoms and their effects. For example, venoms that cause paralysis. Or venom/poisons that cause cardiac arrest.

I imagine having a heart attack would start with a potion effect known as “Chest pain”. If not dealt with (Idk. You take an aspirin or something) after a certain amount of time, the player has a heart attack. This should start a timer in which (hopefully) someone nearby can try to resuscitate you. (Similar to something like the Player Revive Mod.)

Some new mobs, ways of transmission for new disease, and mobs that ward them off:

The Nasties:

Ticks, they could spread lyme disease (inflicts damage at random, and inflicts slowness and weaknessr) or some other disease to a player. They cling onto a player and get rather fat and engorged with blood. Maybe it could have a giant variant as well, to go in line with the large arthropods MC seems to have. They could be found in biomedicts for forests. Perhaps chickens, entities that extend chickens, and guinea fowl (a domestic gamebird that people often keep around to control ticks and other nasties). Lyme disease could be treated with antibiotics.

Mosquitoes, they could spread malaria (acts as a very slowed down version of poison, plus inflicts nausea and mining fatigue, as well as prevents regeneration), and could breed rapidly, with a larval stage in water, and an adult stage that spreads disease. They would spawn in basically any hot, humid biome. Malaria could be treated with Quinine, which could be extracted from the Quinine tree's bark, or bought from an apothecary. Mosquito larvae could be controlled with mosquitofish (relative of guppies often used for mosquito control, often has a tendency to become invasive), which could be bred with fish flakes or mosquito larvae items. As with the tick, the mosquito could have a giant variant. Adult mosquitoes could be controlled with citronella plants, as well as candles made with citronella.

Botflies, they could lay their eggs in the player, causing them to take random damage, The larva could be removed, using tweezers, but this would inflict pain on the player for a small amount of time. They could spawn in humid, jungle-type biomes, and could be controlled with flypaper and fly swatters.

Your friends:

Guinea Fowl: Noisy birds found in savannas, their meat is often used in place of chicken because it is seen as tastier and more exotic. They can keep ticks at bay, but beware, they are neutral, unlike chickens, for they will attack if attacked.

Mosquitofish: Livebearer fish found in most bodies of water, they are rather easy to breed, and can be used to control mosquitoes in their larval stages.

Citronella: Also known as lemon grass, this herb is often planted for the sole purpose of warding mosquitoes.

Quinine Tree: A tree found in tropical biomes, the bark can be harvested for drugs used to deal with malaria.

Penicillin: An antibiotic, it can be found on rotten melons, but it must be extracted from the mold it comes from first.
