We need to add the Seshat: Global History Databank to the Research Software Directory (RSD) to increase its visibility, impact, and reuse within the research community. This will also ensure proper citation and credit for the Seshat team.
Preparation
Ensure the project team is happy with adding the software.
Gather ORCIDs for contributors.
Collect other relevant information (e.g., DOIs/links to papers).
Prepare section information:
Description: Write a detailed description of Seshat using custom Markdown or link to an existing Markdown page.
Links and metadata: Add the source code repository URL, getting started URL, and software DOI. Validate the DOI and import keywords, license info, and contributors from the DOI metadata.
Contributors: Add contributors by searching the ORCID database. Define one contributor as the contact person with a valid email address.
Organisations: Add The Alan Turing Institute and other contributing organisations.
Mentions: List reference papers, publications, presentations, videos, blogs, etc., that feature Seshat.
Related Software & Projects: Link to related software and projects within the RSD.
Maintainers: Add maintainers and create invitation links for new maintainers.
Package Managers: Add links to package managers like PyPI, Docker Hub, etc.
Steps to Add Seshat
Login to RSD:
Use your ORCID to log in to the RSD.
If you don't have access, request it by emailing rsd@esciencecenter.nl with your name, affiliation (The Alan Turing Institute), ORCID, and example links illustrating the content you wish to add.
Join The Alan Turing Institute Organisation:
After logging in, send a message to an RSD admin to be added to The Alan Turing Institute organisation.
Add Seshat to RSD:
Click the "+" button next to your avatar icon and select "New Software."
Provide a name and a short description of Seshat.
Click "Save" to create the new software page.
Add additional information in the sections prepared under "Preparation" above
Publish the Software Page:
Review the data entered and publish the software page to make it publicly available.
