Me and my gaming team love your HUD, the 7HUD has actually been selected from houndreds of HUDs out there on a duration of several tidious hours. As competitive players we couldn't help but make a few suggestions:

  1. First would be ( if possible ) to leave the player the choice to remove the class model from the bottom left of the screen, because it standing there confused draws back on the aestethical effect and looks a bit misplaced and unapealing. ( Maybe replace it with a class icon like the knife for spy or bullet for heavy. )
  2. Remake the 'Welcome to server' window, class selection window, and team selection menu. While this does not mean we don't apreciate the work already done, it just means that most of us could apreciate a quicker, much easier access to the buttons and I have a few links to suggest what I'm implying : http://i.imgur.com/jfW7UHm.png http://i.imgur.com/DTwkF7v.png http://i.imgur.com/jNqEa0k.png The simple text and pixelated models that appear in class selection menu make it look a little unpleasant, and I hope you agree with me that its not the easiest or most enjoyable thing squirking your eyes in the effort of hitting the small clickable area especially during an intense round or while being under the presure of losing your last point.
  3. Increase the size of the texts in the menu buttons and kill fees a bit so that they can be more readable in 15'' laptops for instance. http://i.imgur.com/E9PqwRf.png
  4. This one is more design than technical, my friends and I would greatly apreciate if you could move the money numbers in MvM from top to bottom and change the color from blue to green, something similar to this : http://i.imgur.com/WoDgvqT.png ( All of those screenshots were selected from all the HUDs that failed our test and were not taken from our computers. )

Other than that, your HUD is a near perfect work for us, it has the biggest number of features a competitive can hope for, and believe me, we've looked for it a lot before choosing it. I would like to mention that not one of us is a coder making it difficult for us to understand the effort you go through, despite this, you have our support. We apologise in advance if any of our suggestions were repetitive, 'stupid', or offensive to you in any way. We just thought of providing you a fresh pair of eyes from the 'outside'. Again we apreciate all your work, and we want to let you know that your HUD is our 'best of the best', but because of the hours it took to compare it with others we couldn't help but share what we discovered that could improve it. Thank you for your work and good luck on the future!

Thanks for the feedback!

  1. The class icons serve a number of purposes. They allow people to check what team they are on, see their loadouts, and see what weapon they're currently holding if they don't have viewmodels on. With 4Plug, you can even move the position. If you'd like to remove it yourself, open up HudPlayerClass.res in the ui folder with notepad or a similar text editor and change "visible" to "0" under the first heading.
  2. I just remade all those, and I like them and so far most other people do as well. There are hot keys bound to the class selection and team select menus, as well as the welcome to server menu. You can skip through the welcome to server by pressing "e". You can join Blu team by pressing "2" at the team select menu, and "3" for Red. All of the classes are bound to keys as well. Scout is "1", Soldier is "2", Pyro is "3" etc. All of these hot keys make it so that you never even have to move your mouse when joining a server, selecting your team, and then selecting your class.
  3. Read the readme to find out how to increase the size of the killfeed, it's very simple.
  4. I really like the money display where it is, it's out of the way and the color scheme was chosen to show how the Blu and Red teams united to defeat the robots. I don't think I will change that, I'm sorry.

I do really appreciate your suggestions and I'm proud that you chose it. I hope you'll find my answers satisfactory.

Me, Alex, Paul, and well the whole team, highly apreciate your quick and rather complex response. 1.Like I mentioned before we are competitive players so we have an ideea or two about huds, reason why yours was considered best by our group. However we are all rather blind in the area of coding so the tip you gave us was of great help. 2.We use the hotkeys, regarding those windows, by reflex, but we only thought to suggest it for those players that are quite new to the world of this '70s cartoony shooter. We still have a hard time 'enjoying' the team selection menu and it is probably the only item we can't agree on. The models tend to be quite pixelated, and sometimes glitchy ( as in half of the screen is black while the switch is done ) and the text a bit plain, cold. We just thought we'd suggest a more appealing, friendly-like interface that would look nice without the showing the class too ( as in this image we showed you http://i.imgur.com/jNqEa0k.png ) . Despite all that, you are the creator, we are just making suggestions so if you intend to keep it that way, we will settle with what we have. But if you could help us with one last tip on how to transfer that class menu we showed you into your hud that would really make our day ( we don't want to advertise it here, reason why we don't name it ) .

  1. We tend to ( as most gamers ) be quite direct, and not so meticulous as we should be, so while we did read your README.txt, we missed that part. Again we thank you!
  2. The only point of this change in the money icons was because ( again we are competitive, and shamefully repetitive about this ) Greg who for the past couple of hours played the scout in our MvM tour noticed he missed a lot of money due to the low awareness of it. Bringing the money down to a more vision-focused area and show it off a little with a different color than red and blue which mostly show a lot of data in the scoreboard, kill notices, ammo etc. already, and is mostly unimportant during the game. Putting a little light on it would help a good scout have a reminder and spare the few moments ( which while short, quite important in gaming as we know ) of moving his eyes to the top of the screen and identify the money from the rest of the blue numbers. Of course this would make more sense for experienced players and higher dificulties of the MvM.

All in all, as the ultimate rookies in coding, we highly value your support and fast response regarding our post and we are sure to apply them as soon as we close the page, we decided to agree on the 'welcome' and 'team selection' windows, since you created them and we are no critics, but we couldn't settle for the class selection, so with your help and patience we would like to change it with what we've shown you ( http://i.imgur.com/jNqEa0k.png ), which to be clear was the second best HUD that still barely got close to 7HUD's quality, and the MvM money display was just a minor thing that could give Greg ( our beloved scout ) a slight advantage in the harder difficulties, but I'm sure he can adapt. We again apreciate all your tips and we are looking forward to your reply! You may hear from us in case those burned out brains of ours should have problems on how to successfully apply your tips...

The Webster TF2 Competitve Crew salutes you!
