Or you can check shaastra.org/2015/frontend/projects/minimal_mainsite/php/home.php The site we're gonna release and get an idea of what all needs to be shown

Things that we need in frontend :

Main Page
Events Navigation page : subcategories - like Aerofest, etc
Events page - A page to show specific events eg : A page to show info about Robowars. Note : This can have multiple tabs like : Prize money, Contacts, Intro, Problem Statement, etc.
Lectures/Exhibitions Page
Shows Page - A mini para on envisage + videos/pics
Spons page - shows images of sponsors
About Us/Contact - Some gen thing. The contact should be nicely made though.

Thats about it.

Let's begin with Events. @nishanthkarthik : Work on the events page sub categories. Do not think too much. Start making it. But just post here before starting to make what ur gonna make. @blackViking007 : Acknowledge by posting something here.

[ ] - Lectures page made by 10th July
[ ] - Contact and About Us page made by 15th July
[ ] - Spons Page by 18th July
[ ] - Shows page by 20th July

We will then populate everything by 25th. And complete any pending bugs by 30th.

I always prefer dark background and white text ... But I dunno, isn't dark very irritating on phone ? I prefer white bg on phones... Mostly because when light shines on my phone, its difficult to see stuff with dark backgrounds. White backgrounds are easier to see ... (i dont have a glossy display phone)

Some of the stuff i liked from things you guys posted : That bottom bar on this : We could try doing that along with shaastra dice to give a custom menu.

Also, doing shield OS will be insanely tough :/ These were some elments i liked : EVENTS Showing events like this : http://www.megaleecher.net/sites/default/files/images/shield-os-theme.png We won't put full photos, but nice little graphics like this. Which have a blue + silhouette effect. Design can make them easily. As they scroll downward, the image will go up, and some details come below. It's very simple and minimalistic

Menu : http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/yBQwTrocfPY/maxresdefault.jpg This looks sexy for a menu. Like, you have a circle and around it you have "Events", "Lectures" etc written. When someone clicks on something, the ball turns around and the thing you select comes on top and expands to give the next page. @blackViking007 : Start making this ?

The menu on the top left saying "Skype", "Arduino", "Chrome" etc on - http://i.imgur.com/j1N1CEz.jpg Can be used for Lecture series. With each persons photo + name + a tiny line on what they do (For example - Richard Stallmax - Open source visionary) and stuff. You click on one and it shows more info. Again, more info we need a design. @nishanthkarthik - start making this lectures page ?

So, basically we need a lot of stuff. Try getting images from the deviant art pages (there are lots on shield os) ... if you need some you cannot find, post here. Will ask design.

Hey, it is difficult so I would be needing some help for this.... I m short on resources for learning coz I hv got a poor internet connection.... If u get some good resources in the form of ebooks or in the form of app samples, do forward it to me.... I m starting working on it right away coz it is gonna take time....

@blackViking007 The book I told you about is good enough by itself. If you have specific doubts, msdn and stackoverflow can help you. @AbdealiJK For lectures page, what data do I need to display? Should I add the schedule/venue/MAP_control areas (they are not in http://www.shaastra.org/2015/frontend/projects/minimal_mainsite/php/lectures.php)?

Atleast, can we have list of sample data to be displayed so that we can make a proper layout for our controls?

And yea put everything you mentioned. Put dummy info for now. Later we'll hard code or get from website.

Check the code that nishanth has pushed. Put your code into that and start using the same git repo.
He has used a hexagon also. This is why i asked both of you to put the design you're making, now we have a clash ...
Can we use a different layout ? (as lectures page already has this)

Hello Harish, While adding your code to the Shaastra app on github, in VS, create a folder "Events" similar to my folder Lectures, put your XAML, cs into that, then, also, put an assets folder into it. You can just make UriKind as uriKind.Relative, By this way, path issues wont come. besides, change your namespaces in XAML, and class names, their inheritance in c# too. You can add comments too. It would make bug finding easier.

Added to that, why don't you try something that can occupy the screen properly to its full extent? And, @AbdealiJK told us to go with a lighter theme, remember? can you make them white?
