The README.INSTALL
directions don't apply in my case. Why was the mainline version replaced? Lots of useful information like the 1.1.2 Non-interactive configuration
section is gone.
The current version has been dumbed-down for the lowest common denominator, such as those who need to be told to use the arrow keys to navigate the kernel config GUI. I think this sort of document is perhaps valuable as a 'quick start guide' or something, but it's no replacement for the upstream version.
If you are building RTAI outside of the given instructions within the README.INSTALL file, please do so before filing a bug. If you are working on LinuxCNC development and would like to offer a distribution that will run on any machine, please discuss this in the #linuxcnc-devel channel on irc.freenode.net
IMPORTANT: Any further issues regarding kernel bugs will be IMMEDIATELY CLOSED if your kernel configs are not based off of the ones I have provided in base/arch/x86/configs
They are there for a reason, please use them.
