Birthday fields not exported on HTC Hero

Exporting and importing works fine, but I don't see any birthday notes when
exporting on my HTC Hero (Build 2.73.405.5).
I sort of needed this feature, a proper BDAY field would of course be even
better..

Does the Hero have an actual birthday field in the contact? The stock android
contacts application doesn't have a birthday field, which is why vCardIO creates
special birthday notes on import (on export it translates these notes back into 
BDAY
fields).

If there's a separate birthday field in the Hero, then it would require 
different
code. Unfortunately, I don't have a Hero, or even any documentation for the
Hero-specific SDK. If someone is willing to contribute a patch and test on a 
Hero,
I'll accept it (as long as it still works on the stock Android as well.

I don't know about the underlying format of the contacts, but in the UI it's
certainly there.
