Export fact/source/family/individual relationships #231

I do a lot of querying/reporting in Excel with the use of power query. FTA is excellent and it would be nice if it could export the relationships into a CSV file so I can do my own reporting as well. I could do this myself with GEDCOM but FTA is so good why re-invent the wheel. The information and relationships are already there because you can double click on the appropriate columns to get details. I need to do this for my large database and doing a screen would take longer. I have only been using FTA for a couple of days but I have managed to fix a number of errors. To truly record all genealogy information you need to consolidate all data from websites as well as manually collected data from offline institutions and that is why a tool like FTA is needed. I am human and make mistakes however much I try to be thorough.

Can you give a specific concrete example of what you mean please. The relationship to the root person should already be exported.

If you mean family relationship then that’s in the family export it would struggle to be in the individuals export as an individual appears in multiple families.

If you can give an actual example I may better understand what you mean. I take it you are actually recording your tree in a family history program/website?

Still working on better exabation. I record all data in TMG but reporting is always difficult. You have the relationships in you reporting bit you refer to them as counts and it's only when you double click that you get the details. The details don't give the IDs of the records. Example 1...

To follow up on this once I have explained this, is that I want to identify which sources have no associated object. I prefer not to rely on transcribed data and I try an associate one or more images with each source. I would like to find all sources without an object whether it is jog, pdf, PNG, etc These entries can be identified by the tag OBJE at level 0 followed by tag FILE at level 1 and the object type with tag FORM at level 2. This rules applies to software such as The Master Genealogist (TMG), Family Tree Maker (FTM), Legacy, Roots Magic but for online sites such as Ancestry and Findmypast will work differently.

Currently working on it.

I have spent the last 4 weeks tidying up my Ancestry tree which is pretty non-GEDCOM standard.

I have learnt a lot more about Ancestry which has helped me along with your software.

I will come back to you ASAP.
