GCC Customers need the old instructions #7039

Open npherson opened 3 years ago

Viva is not available to GCC customers. Can the old documentation be restored for O365 GCC folks to continue using and just include callout the top recommending Viva Connections as the preferred method?

@npherson - as the new Viva Connections Desktop model is really around creating a manifest exactly how it was defined here, it will work in similar ways in GCC tenants. There's really no difference on the model, except that we provided a script to make things easier, so that you don't need to do things manually.

If you however see some differences here, can you share details. Thx.

The product group has said and documented that Viva Connections is not supported in Office 365 GCC. The date for support is: TBD. https://microsoft-my.sharepoint.com/personal/cbortlik_microsoft_com/Documents/Shared%20with%20Everyone/Microsoft%20Viva/Microsoft%20Viva%20FAQs.pdf

With no current support and no timeline for support, we need the custom app instructions. This is impacting FY21 scorecard motions.

This is also terminology thing. Whatever we have published now should work without any issues. Mobile experience which is in preview is separate topic. Current desktop implementation is pretty much exactly what this page had before - but we provided a PowerShell script do that. Sure - you can still do things manually, but there's no reason.

If you have any issues on this, would need actual exception details from the GCC tenant to provide input. I'm btw from the exact product group and even thought Chris typically provides accurate information, this is terminology thing.

When the PG explicitly says this is unsupported in GCC, I’m not sure what more evidence from a tenant can be provided. Can you point us in the right direction?

What's the best path for escalating this for our GCC customers? GetHelp, CXP?

VesaJuvonen commented 3 years ago

@npherson - We can absolutely take this offline and chat directly in Teams. Would need to know exactly who from PG provided following statement - "When the PG explicitly says this is unsupported in GCC,"

and let's get some clarity on that. There's zero difference on the PowerShell or how things are done manually as was defined in this article. That means that if the manual setup worked in GCC, then PowerShell usage works as well. There's no changes technically on the model, except making it more automated.

I'll follow up on this using internal channels.
