As the community is full of articles about this topic, using this REST-Call in different manners and a lot of them did not succeed, it would be helpful to provide more detailed information.
About the endpoint-Url. Do we must use the admin-site or any site? Example: https://ourtenant-admin.sharepoint.com or https://ourtenant.sharepoint.com
Do we need to use "__metadata": { "type": "Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.SPSiteCreationRequest" } to succeed?
You assume an HTTP Accept header of application/json;odata.metadata=none. Are there other valid accept headers?
It would be fantastic to have link to Classification
Do we must use Content-Type header?
Please give also a hint about permissions. What if self site creation is disabled? What if using PIM with no permanent SharePoint-Admin role and no permanent Global Admin role? - Especially if using this API from Flow, Nintex, Azure Function, Automation. Thinking of App Only Permissions, Policies.
