I believe this is a bug. The field order in the JSON, I believe should re-order the columns. There are specific scenarios where this doesn't work, for example if you have attachments or content-type column in the same section, it will not adhere to the ordering.

This used to work, and does work in some of the sections I have in my custom forms. I have noticed to reflect changes, I have to save, close the form, and open it back up. However, I can also replicate the issue if I have multiple sections, some sections won't re-order correctly.

Again, I think this is a bug/regression.
